‘Duke and Mrs. Duke’: Mom liked that nickname for my father, and sometimes referred to herself as ‘Mrs. Duke.’ My parents married in 1942, two years after Annie’s hospitalization. Part of my search focused on whether my father knew about Annie, and if so, when he learned of her.
